This month, the United States of America has a total population of roughly 310, 289, 000 that represents approximately 4.52% of the global population.
We have approximately 94,000 troops fighting in Afghanistan, which notably includes elements of the 75th Regiment (Rangers), and other Special Forces at-large.
The United Kingdom (I’ll simplify as England, here) has 62, 008, 049 citizens which is roughly 0.9% of the global population.
England has about 9,500 troops in Afghanistan that include the Special Air Services (SAS) 22nd, 21st and 23rd Regiments (that has served as a model for the special forces of other countries all over the world).
The United States is about four times the size of Great Britain, and carries ten times the number of troops in the Afghanistan theater of operations. But, I can tell you that England is much more severely taxed for man-power, and is dangerously thin in the ranks.
So… I’m going to ask: “Where in the hell are Japan (1.85%), Mexico (1.58%), Germany (1.19%) and France (0.95%)?”
Perhaps you’re unaware, Japan has not had a military – forbidden by its constitution – since WWII – but it does have a self-defense force (The SDF) – no nukes (considered offensive), etc. Good background here… http://www.cfr.org/publication/10439/japan_and_its_military.html – Jeffrey Hunter
In fact, I am fully aware of Japan’s current stance on standing armies, and the root cause, as well. However, there is a worthy doctrine shared by both the 75th and the 23rd in that if you don’t like what’s happening, you have two choices: You can change the rules, or you can change the perspective. In this case, I feel Japan and the UN can do both. I feel this is Japan’s way of being allowed to let us fight a war that’s in their best interests, with a malformed sense of integrity.
…end of update.
I’ll be jumping around quite a bit the next few weeks going after Obama’s war on US citizens, Apple’s next technology play, why being the father of daughters is very cool, and boats.
So, stay-tuned. And. you will likely be astounded over how I can connect the above.
Peace be to my Brothers and Sisters.
